January 2005 - Mexico Invades Southern Texas!
A tremendous influx of Mexican birds into the lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas had birdwatchers racing from spot to spot. Chief among the birds were:

-
Social Flycatcher (Rio Bentsen State Park, Mission) - a first record for the United States!
-
White-throated Robin (Rio Bentsen State Park, Mission and Frontera Audubon, Weslaco) - the 4th and 5th records for the United States
-
Clay-colored Robin - many birds have been present at several locations during the past few years, including several nesting and raising young
-
Crimson-collared Grosbeak - at least a half dozen birds at multiple locations marked the 9th+ records for Texas
