American Golden-Plover
[Pluvialis dominica]
[Length 10.5 in. Wingspan 26 in.]
American Golden Plovers breed on the Arctic tundra across Canada and Alaska.
They are fairly common spring migrants in the US along the Central and Mississippi flyways.
This one, looking rather mottled as it transitions from breeding to winter plumage, was photographed in the early morning light of a September morning at Brigantine NWR in New Jersey, USA.
Photo taken with a 750mm f5.6 Celestron mirror lens on Ektachrome 200 film.
