Black-throated Gray Warblers breed in the foothills and mountains of western and northwestern US and southwestern British Columbia. But, this one was photographed in a small courtyard where it spent the winter on the Princeton University campus in central New Jersey, USA. Black-throated Green Warblers are common breeding birds of coniferous and mixed woodlands in the northeastern US, and eastern and southcentral Canada. No other eastern warbler has the combination of a yellow face, dark black throat, and black wings with white wing bars. Their loud "ZEEE ZEEE ZEE-ZU-ZEE" song, which is heard in migration and on their breeding grounds, is also one of the easiest to learn.
